Met Éireann has updated its status yellow weather warning today for Galway, with heavy rain expected overnight and on Sunday morning.

Some torrential downpours are expected in parts, resulting in surface flooding. There is also the potential for thunderstorms and lightning strikes.

The rain will move northwards across much of the country tonight, clearing from the north and northwest on Sunday morning.

The warning begins at 1am and will be lifted at 10am on tomorrow morning, Sunday.

A status orange warning for heavy rain has been issued for a number of counties: Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Offaly, Westmeath, Cavan, Donegal, Leitrim, Roscommon, Sligo, Waterford from 4am to 8am on Sunday.

All six counties in the North also have a status yellow warning tonight issued by the Met Office.

Picnic Against Apartheid to show support for Palestinians

A ‘Picnic Against Apartheid’ in support of Palestinians living under Israeli occupation will take place at Eyre Square in Galway city next weekend.

The event, organised by Galway branch of the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign and Amnesty International, will take place from 2pm to 6pm on Saturday, September 10.

Those in attendance will hear testimonials from Palestinians and Irish people who have first-hand experience of the reality of apartheid in the Palestinian Territories and Israel.

People are asked to bring along some local and seasonal produce and remember to leave no trace by cleaning up during and after the event.

They are also invited to sign the European Citizens Initiative (ECI) petition to prevent the EU from trading with illegal settlements in occupied territories.

A Picnic Against Apartheid event will also take place in Donegal this month.

Galway News - What's On - Culture Night 2018

Over 50 events have been organised for Galway City Culture Night which will take place in just under three weeks on Friday 23 September.

Two hundred artists participating in a diverse programme of visual arts, music, film and storytelling at locations across the city.

Galway City of Film facilitated by Ardán, and with the support of Galway City Council, will be celebrating Culture Night 2022 with a special public screening in Eyre Square from 8pm to 10pm.

The screening will be free and open to the public and will show a programme of short films made as part of Galway City of Film activities over the last two years.

The programme will include films from the short Documentary Scheme, the 48-Hour Challenge, and the Misleór Bursary and will show different examples of the amazing filmmaking going on in Galway City.

Visual arts

Spend your Culture Night immersed in artwork by local and international artists. Kicking off the programme is Just Art It, the creative community in the Westend with hands-on print demonstrations led by visual artist and printmaker Elena Santos from 5pm.

The event will also provide a talk and practical demonstration on the practice of printmaking editioning and will introduce each of the studio artists on display at the Just Art It gallery.

From 6pm Forge Artists Aoife Natsumi Frehan and Emma O’ Toole will deliver two Pumpkins and Prosecco workshops, a fun and inclusive introduction to ceramics. The participants will get to decorate, paint and design using underglaze. There is limited space in the studio, so booking through Eventbrite is advised.

Galway Cartoon Festival will launch their 2022 Festival Programme on Culture Night at the Galway Distillery featuring the opening of the exhibition Moon Cartoons from 6pm. It’s sure to be a night of great fun with guest cartoonists, illustrators, visual artists, and animators from Ireland and the UK.

A collection of artists will be creating drawings and digital art in real time whilst inviting attendees to interact. Get your caricature drawn, learn how to create a cartoon, and catch a preview of the exciting 2022 festival.

Join the artists of the Array Collective in a lively chat and Q&A about their Turner Prize winning work The Druthaib’s Ball currently on exhibit in Galway Arts Centre.

The Druthaib’s Ball is a built installation that invites audiences into an immersive experience reflecting the lively community hub of the Irish síbin, a long-established tradition of an illegal bar and space of contradiction, dark humour, and craic.

Music

Join Galway Arts Centre and Áras na nGael for ceol agus craic in the unique setting of the immersive installation of The Druthaib’s Ball with traditional Irish musicians Ciarán de Burca + Cairde in this open trad session! Expect traditional Irish music, singing and chat and the invitation to join in a sing song! All taking place in the centre of a unique and immersive Turner Prize winning artists installation from 10pm to midnight!

Galway City will host a night of uplifting singing from two of Galway’s finest choirs. The IGNITE gospel choir singing gospel greats and the VILLAGE Choir performing modern contemporary music. A Sing-along will be encouraged!

Literature

The Black Gate presents BEYOND THE GATE, a hybrid evening of literature and music curated by The Black Gate and featuring some of Galway’s finest and most prolific writers and performers at the Mick Lally Theatre from 10pm. Alan McMonagle has published two collections of short stories and contributed stories to journals in Ireland and North America. He signed a two-book deal with PICADOR and his first novel, Ithaca was nominated for the Desmond Elliott Prize for first novels, the International Dublin Literary Award, and an Irish Book Award.

Eva Bourke is the author of seven poetry collections and numerous translations including a selection of the German poet Elisabeth Borchers in English, as well as two comprehensive anthologies of Irish poetry in German. Anna Mullarkey is an award-winning composer and performer from Galway, whose music weaves electronics with piano and voice. The Irish Times called her “phenomenal” and Irish Theatre Magazine described her music as “if a sultry ménage of Björk/Billie Holiday/Philip Glass got together at the Wickerman Festival.

The Galway City Library will host a series of readings from 6 to 8pm. Join writers Jimi McDonnell, Aoibheann McCann, Sacha White & Simon Costello for a programme of poetry and fiction. The readings will be followed by a performance of a short play written by Anthony Daly.

Galway Arts Centre at Nuns Island Theatre hosts a very special storytelling event by master storyteller, seanchaí and author Eddie Lenihan from 9pm. Sharing Irish heritage and history for over 50 years, Eddie Lenihan has dedicated his life to collecting Irish oral histories and stories and publishing over 17 books. A national treasure, he has delighted generations of people in Ireland and all over the world with his stories of faeries, (The Good People) ogres, monsters, banshees, giants, ghosts and much, much more. Expect some spine-tingling scary stories for older children and adults!

Repair works to cause water outages near Athenry next week

People living near Athenry may experience water outages or other supply issues next week due to repair works taking place.

Irish Water will be carrying on mains repair works next Monday, which will impact the Castlelambert group water scheme.

The works are scheduled to take place from 9am to 5pm on Monday, September 5.

During the works, customers supplied by Castlelambert Group Water Scheme may experience temporary, intermittent low pressure and/or water outages.

Rónan Daly of Irish Water said that the utility provider understands the inconvenience this can cause to people.

“Working in partnership with Galway County Council, we will make every effort to minimise the disruption that these necessary works may cause.”

Typically, it takes two to three hours following restoration time for normal supply to be fully restored to all areas.

After the works people in the area may also see temporary discolouration of their water, and some internal airlocks.

Warning notices for two city beaches ahead of heavy rain

Galway Daily news Swimming ban at Ballyloughane Beach due to E. Coli

Galway City Council has issued two prior warning notices for possible contamination at Ballyloughane and Grattan beaches this weekend.

The warnings have been issued due to the likelihood of increased bacteria due to heavy rainfall in the coming days, and the possible activation of a storm overflow.

A status yellow weather warning has been issued by Met Eireann for heavy rainfall from 9pm on Saturday, lasting until noon Sunday.

The warnings for the two beaches are expected to be in effect for four days from September 2 – 5.

During this time, people avoid splashing or swallowing water while at these beaches, avoid swimming if you have a wound, and to wash hands before handling food.

An update will be provided on September 7 upon the receipt of water sampling results.

Just one week until one of Galway Hospice’s main fundraising events

There is just one week to go before one of Galway Hospice’s most important fundraising campaigns, the Galway Memorial Walk.

The walk will begin at Claddagh Hall at 12 noon on Sunday 11 September and all participants must register through galwayhospice.ie/walk or by calling fundraising on 091 770868.

The Galway Memorial Walk, now in its 17th year, is one of Galway Hospice’s main fundraising campaigns and a very beneficial part of its annual calendar.

Those who participate in the Galway Memorial Walk play a very important part in ensuring the free delivery of essential Inpatient Care, Community Palliative Care, Day Care and Bereavement Support services to those affected by life-limiting illnesses, for as long as they are needed.

Charlene Hurley, Director of Fundraising and Communications at Galway Hospice, said: “It is because of each individual’s participation in the Galway Memorial Walk, that we can continue to provide the care necessary for our patients and their families living with a life-limiting illness.”

Those who take part in the Memorial Walk do so in memory of a family member, friend, neighbour or work colleague who has passed away, with many wearing the name of their loved one on special personalised t-shirts provided by the Hospice.

It is an event that is dear to many people’s hearts and one that will be especially appreciated this year, as we meet once again for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic.

Galway Daily arts Celebrate the Creative side of Galway this month

Arts, crafts, podcasting and more will showcase the creative side of Galway this month, with a series of Creative Ireland events celebrating culture and heritage.

This September will see a number of creative projects presented to the public as part of Creative Ireland Galway County.

All part of an all-of-government culture and wellbeing programme that inspires and transforms people, places and communities through creativity.

Special Creative Ireland bursaries were awarded earlier this year by Galway County Arts Office to local community groups and individuals, artistic and creative practitioners and event organisers to encourage cultural participation throughout the County.

September projects include Harness Your Hopes, a series of 6 podcast episodes showcasing fiction. Six of the West of Ireland’s upcoming authors will write a new short story inspired by that theme.

Authors will read their stories and discuss their craft and inspirations. Writers include Sasha de Buyl, Alan McMonagle, Órfhlaith Foyle, Gerry Boland, Celeste Augé and Owodunni Mustapha. They will be produced and presented by Alan Meaney.

The series will be launched on Wednesday 21st September on the Creative Ireland website, Apple, Spotify or wherever you get your podcasts.

Twisted Lane Productions, in partnership with Connemara West, presents Wild, a community arts project. Wild is a celebration of the Connemara Pony culminating in the creation of a temporary mural of a pony.

The callout for public participation has begun, just sign up through Twisted Lane Productions Facebook Page or Connemarawest.ie.

The Landscape of Longhand by The Artfarm Collective is a community art project in Newbridge, Co. Galway, inspired by the age old artform of handwriting.

Samples of handwriting from all age groups in the area will be used to create a piece of public art. Contributions so far have included various lines of writing including thoughts, wishes, dreams, ideas, jokes and observations.

Some people have submitted a line from a favourite poem, song, prayer or mantra as gaeilge nó béarla, or any preferred language.

The artwork will be revealed on Friday, September 23 in the Newbridge Community Garden.

Western Traveller and Intercultural Development Centre in Tuam are running a series of creative workshops. This visual arts project will bring creative workshops to the Traveller Community and give equal access to creativity to all Travellers.

It will consist of a mixture of workshops with a choice of mixed media including Oil Painting, Ceramic Clay Workshops and Printmaking. This variety of art media will cater for different forms of expression for each participant.

There won’t be any ghoulish delight when the supercar extravaganza Cannonball arrives in Salthill this month, not with the Ghistbusters in town.

Cannonball, the action packed supercar spectacle, will roll into Galway City on September 10 as it makes its way around Ireland.

This year the event will feature the first ever Ecto-1 Ghostbusters Car built in Ireland proudly presented by Galway Bay Brewery.

The build commenced with a 1960 Cadillac and took 5 years to transform into Ecto-1 including the iconic roof rack, Proton Packs for all of the crew, Ecto Goggles, P.K.E. Meters, and a slew of Ghost Traps.

The car is 23 ft long with a straight piped short blockV8 motor. For Cannonball it is fitted with a jaw dropping laser light show, smoke machines and one thing is for certain … I ‘aint afraid of no Ghosts!’

Cannonball, fuelled by milesPLUS from Circle K, is the largest organised road trip in Europe and this year the event will have the highest ever number of car entries including Lamborghini, Ferrari, McLaren , Aston Martin Porsche, Rolls Royce Bentley and Maserati.

The event has already raised €1,298,779 for Irish charities over the years to date, and this year’s target is to raise €250,000 for The HOPE Foundation by the end of September.

This Irish Charity is doing incredible work with the street children of Kolkata (formerly Calcutta) in India.

Cannonball 2022 will blaze a trail from Malahide to Kinsale over the course of September 9-11, with over 200 supercars for audiences to ogle.

In Galway, the parade of automotive excellence will make its way to Salthill for a lunch event at the Oslo Bar at 1:30pm.

Spectators will be able to get up close and personal with some of the most stunning cars on the planet at St Enda’s School Car Park, with entries from Lamborghini, Ferrari, McLaren, Aston Martin Porsche, Rolls Royce Bentley and Maserati.

HOPE funds and operates over 60 projects including 11 child protection homes, a hospital, an ambulance, counselling, food and nutrition, education, healthcare and the restoration of childhoods to children.

Along with supercars, Brazilian Dancers will bring all the glamour of carnival and live DJs, bands and festivals in host towns get the party started.

This year, organisers are also calling on spectators to dress up in fancy dress with prizes for best dressed.

There were two new Lotto millionaires made in Galway last month, including the syndicate which won a staggering €5.5 million jackpot.

The syndicate of street cleaners at Galway City Council won a whopping €5,541,001 jackpot prize at the start of the month, on August 3, one of who almost left the syndicate after years, before they won their big prize.

The ten man syndicate formed almost twenty-five years ago, with all numbers chosen for the draw individual to all the members.

One syndicate member spoke of how they had to keep the belief going after so many years; “The lads thought about changing the numbers at one stage, but decided against making any changes.”

“Just last Christmas, one member mentioned that he was going to leave the syndicate, but he was persuaded to stay on and was told it was only the price of a pint and a newspaper.

“Luckily, he stayed as the syndicate winning numbers appeared on the August 3rd Lottery draw”, the said.

The large syndicate have become Ireland’s 7th Lotto Jackpot of the year. The winning ticket was sold in Newspoint newsagent, Unit 25, Galway Shopping Centre, on the Headford Road.

“Someone said that we ‘cleaned-up’ and we did, but us lads clean up every day by ensuring the streets and parks in Galway city are spotless,” another syndicate member added.

“We’re proud of our city. Unlike the ‘magnificent seven’ -these ‘magnificent ten’ can now all ride off into the sunset with their lottery win secured”.

Then, on Friday, August 19, another player in Galway became one of four Euromillions Raffle winners last month.

The winner of the €1 million prize from Friday, August 19 has yet to come forward to claim their prize.

The winning ticket was sold at Costcutter in Bealadanga, and the winning code for that draw was  I – NCR – 41927 .

A National Lottery spokesperson said, “What a month it’s been for Irish players this August which saw one massive Lotto Jackpot win and four new millionaires made in the special EuroMillions ‘Ireland Only Raffle’ draw.”

“We are asking all our players in Galway and Kildare to check their National Lottery accounts and tickets to see if they are the winners of the EuroMillions ‘Ireland only Raffle’ draws on Friday 19th and 26th of August.”

The switch to doing business online shows no sign of slowing down in Galway, with the latest figures showing that the city continues to dominate the internet scene in the province of Connacht. What type of website is now popular here and what benefits does this online boom bring to the local residents?

What Do the Numbers Say?

The IE Domain Profile Report for the first six months of 2022 confirms that 2,352 websites in Connacht were registered during that period. More than half of that total were located in Galway, with a total of 1,236 new sites reported for the city.

This represented a 6.6% increase in the number of new sites that were created in Galway in 2019. If we go back to 2018, the figures for the first half of the year were slightly higher than in 2022, with over 1,300 new sites created.

What Types of Sites Are Popular?

If we look at the main keywords used in the new websites, it doesn’t reveal a lot of information about what services or products they provide. This is because the main words used are Galway, Irish and Ireland.

However, when looking for examples, we can see sites such as Made in Galway, which lets visitors from all around the world see the finest products made in Galway, such as fashion, jewellery and foods. This provides a handy portal where many of the region’s finest products are gathered together neatly.

Galway daily news Almost 3,500 Galway students receiving Leaving Cert results

The long wait is over for more than 3,000 Galway Leaving Cert students who are receiving their results this morning at their schools or through an online portal.

Across Ireland 58,056 Leaving Cert students and just over 3,000 LCA students have been able to access their results since 10am this morning.

The results have been adjusted upwards by exam authorities so that they are in line with those received by last year’s Leaving Cert students.

Minister for Education Norma Foley congratulated the 61,000 Leaving Cert and LCA students receiving their results today.

She said that the students have reached this significant milestone in their education journey and that alone is an ‘enormous achievement’.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank your families, your teachers and your school communities for the support they have shown you over the course of your Senior Cycle pathway,” she said.

“Throughout your school journey, each of you will have learned so much and will have developed a myriad of talents. Be proud of that. Now begins the next exciting chapter in your lives.”

Minister Foley also thanked those who made this year’s State Examinations possible.

“From teachers, principals and other school staff to those in the State Examinations Commission and Advisory Group on Planning for State Examinations 2022, your diligence and care have served the class of 2022 very well,” she said.

“Results day is not only proof of students’ success, but of the successful collaborative planning which we have engaged in together over the course of these years.”

Galway Daily weather Weather warning for heavy rain in Galway tonight

Met Éireann has issued a status yellow rain warning for Galway which will come into effect on Saturday night.

The forecasters have said that high amounts of rainfall from Saturday night until Sunday morning may cause disruption.

The warning for all counties in the Republic will begin at 9pm on Saturday and is expected to be lifted at midday on Sunday.

As for today, more persistent rain will develop in the west in the afternoon, gradually spreading eastwards over Connacht.

Met Éireann has forecasted high temperatures of between 17 and 21 degrees in moderate breezes, varying in direction.

Some heavy rainfall is also expected tonight and tomorrow afternoon, with some heavy and thundery showers possible.

An Bord Pleanála approves Mountbellew wastewater treatment plant

An Bord Pleanála has upheld planning permission for a new wastewater treatment plant in Mountbellew, ruling against an appeal by the local Co-Op.

Irish Water was granted a ten year planning permission for a new wastewater treatment plant in Mountbellew by the county council in April of 2021.

The project will involve building a new treatment plant at the northern end of Mountbellew town, located on lands adjacent to the Mountbellew Mart.

Other works in the project will include decommissioning the existing plant, which will be converted to a pumping station, and demolishing its tanks, biological filters and control building.

A rising main will be installed between the pumping station and the new treatment plant, and a gravity outflow pipe to carry treated sewage back to the pumping station.

The council’s decision was appealed by Mountbellew Regional Co-Op Livestock Society Ltd on the basis of its likely impact on the adjacent Livestock Mart, potential future development, and concerns about environmental reports.

The appeal states that the new plant could undermine the viability of the Mart, with buyers and sellers going elsewhere, and that this potential impact was not taken into consideration at the site selection stage.

It also claims that the 10 year planning permission could hold up development in the village, and that the potential expansion of the plant in the future, which was alluded to in the planning report, should have been considered.

The Co-Op also raised concerns with the Natura Impact Statement, saying that as it was submitted as further information, new public notices should have been put up, and that it should have assessed the cumulative impact of any potential future expansion.

A response to the appeal on behalf of Irish Water states that the wastewater treatment plant is required to address the growth of Mountbellew, and that future expansion of the plant should be addressed by environmental assessment at that time.

It also states that the wastewater treatment plant will be designed and operated in such a way as to avoid odour and noise problems.

The Mountbellew Mart had previously accused Irish Water of dishonesty in its dealings with them surrounding the acquisition of land for the treatment plant.

Irish Water secured the land by Compulsory Purchase Order, which was upheld by An Bord Pleanála in 2019, after saying that negotiations had broken down.

This was disputed by the Mart owners, which said that no final offer had ever been made to them.

Planning permission for the project was ultimately upheld by An Bord Pleanála with a total of 12 conditions attached.

Call for carers’ needs to be reflected in upcoming Budget

Family Carers Ireland is calling on the Government to demonstrate its commitment to Ireland’s 500,000 carers in the lead-up to Budget 2023.

The charity says that family carers’ needs must be reflected in the upcoming Budget, both in policy and financial terms.

Catherine Cox, Head of Communications and Policy with Family Carers Ireland, said that there’s a lot at stake in Budget 2023 and family carers are concerned that they will be forgotten.

She said that carers rightly worry every year because they are the hidden front line or invisible army of workers that care ‘out of love’, so the Government knows that they won’t down tools in the morning.

“They’re not going to give up or go on strike. As a result, they’re ignored and that is the harsh and cruel reality, even though they save our state €20 billion annually.”

Ms Cox said that in previous years, we’ve heard kind words and noble statements from Government but that now needs to be put into action.

“What we are calling for this year is full recognition for the work that family carers do. We need to see the Carers Allowance means test abolished. Any family carer who has given up work, or who is providing fulltime care for a loved one, should be properly compensated and supported.

“Thousands of family carers are at breaking point so the usual €5 per week Budget increase is just not going to cut it. The expectation that family carers can provide 24/7 care for just €224 per week is simply indefensible, especially given the fact that only one in four carers receives the full rate.”

People have just two more days to see the Children of Carrowbrowne indoor exhibition which is finishing at 5pm on Saturday, September 3.

The set of portraits by award-winning documentary photographer Tamara Eckhardt is displayed in both the indoor and outdoor temporary exhibition spaces in Galway City Museum.

Home to eight Traveller families, the Carrowbrowne Halting Site is located on the outskirts of Galway right next to the city dump, and the exhibition offers a glimpse into the children’s daily lives there.

Berlin-based Tamara Eckhardt was born in 1995 and works as a portrait and documentary photographer all over Europe and further afield.

Her work is primarily concerned with marginalized social groups and minorities – with a particular focus on documenting adolescence. She became a member of the highly regarded OSTKREUZ Agency earlier this year.

The Children of Carrowbrowne exhibition is funded by Galway City Council in partnership with Creative Ireland and is a co-curation between Galway City Museum and Tamara Eckhardt.

The indoor element of the exhibition will run until 3rd September 2022; the outdoor exhibition will continue into the Autumn.

When assessing the array of Irish businesses that are out there, many of them have impacted their respective industries massively. From innovative food companies to recruitment specialists, the variety of businesses emerging from Irish shores is staggering. While many industries have been reaping the rewards from it, the technology industry has perhaps benefitted more than most.

In fact, it has been a hugely promising year for Irish tech start-ups on the whole. For example, Wayflyer recently flew past the $1bn valuation mark to become Ireland’s sixth unicorn, with Flipdish also registering similar success in the year also. Many new businesses are emerging and hoping to gain the same type of recognition that the likes of Wayflyer and Flipdish have. While nothing is guaranteed, many start-ups coming out of Ireland or being founded by Irish citizens have the chance to make a massive impact in their respective fields. With that in mind, let’s take a look at some of Ireland’s tech start-ups that are being tipped for success in 2022 and beyond.

xWave Technologies

A Dublin-based start-up, xWave Technologies is planning on disrupting the health industry through what is a potentially hugely beneficial tool. A health-tech company, xWave Technologies’ focus is on empowering patients and their clinicians to utilise a resource that houses the very best healthcare solutions at the touch of a button. Compatible with a smartphone device and on computers, it has the potential to revolutionise the healthcare industry and provide a more effective and reliable platform for patients and doctors.

Altada

Based in Cork, Altada specialises in deep domain knowledge on AI and deep learning, with its own developments aiming to enable businesses to plan for and execute AI successfully. After being founded by CEO Allan Beechinor and Niamh Parker in 2018, Altada has gone from strength to strength.

Strikepay

As we move further and further towards a potentially cashless society, Strikepay is aiming to flourish. Promising to solve the problem of tipping, the company’s patent-pending technology essentially enables someone to tip an employee at the touch of a button. People don’t need to download an app either, with the company wanting to make tipping as straightforward as possible. While Strikepay was only started in 2020, it’s expected to gather further momentum in the near future, particularly in the UK and around Europe.

Trustap

The world has certainly become heavily reliant on modern-day smartphones, hasn’t it? That, though, has resulted in online criminals being able to successfully conduct a variety of online scams. While this is rare, particularly if you’re using a trusted site with excellent security, such as playing blackjack at an online casino or using your bank’s website, it can happen on other sites or through using other apps. Not every application or website boasts the same type of security measures, hence why Trustap was created by Conor Lyden. The app works by protecting its users from being scammed when they attempt to buy or sell with someone online, with a buyer’s money being held in a safe hold account until all transaction details are completed.

Venari Medical

Galway’s very own Venari Medical is aiming to make its innovative invasive medical device a vital tool in the treatment of chronic venous disease (CVD). The disease, which is when patients in pain have weak valves in the veins of their legs, could help with the issue massively with the insertion of this clever mechanical vein catheter. While the business is in its infancy, Venari Medical is one to keep an eye on in the future.

Wet and windy weather could cause disruption this weekend

Met Éireann has issued a weather advisory ahead of wet and windy conditions forecast for Galway this weekend.

The advisory will begin at 7pm on Friday and will be lifted 7pm on Monday and affects all counties in the Republic.

The forecasters say that the weather could cause disruption.

Friday will be mostly cloudy with outbreaks of rain developing in the late morning and early afternoon across much of Connacht.

The rain will be patchy across the east of the province with dry spells, but it will be more persistent in western areas with some heavy falls likely.

Highest temperatures will range from 17 to 21 degrees, in light or moderate south to southwesterly winds.
