Met Éireann has issued a status yellow weather warning for fog which will come into effect in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The warning comes into effect at 4am on Easter Sunday, and will remain in place for six hours until 10am.

The weather experts warn that widespread fog will lead to impaired visibility and motorists are urged to be careful if travelling on the roads.

Counties Donegal, Mayo, Leitrim, Sligo and Roscommon are also affected by the status yellow alert.

The fog will clear quickly in the morning and showers are possible in parts of the county in the afternoon.

In the evening more outbreaks of light rain will spread from the north and drift southwards through the early part of the night.

Highest temperatures will be between 9 and 12 degrees Celsius in light to moderate northwesterly breezes.
