Galway daily news Met Eireann issues weather warning for Galway

Met Éireann has issued a status yellow wind warning for Galway ahead of strong winds forecast on Saturday evening.

The warning, which affects Galway, Donegal and Mayo, comes into effect at 8.00pm tomorrow, Saturday, and will remain in place for six hours until 2.00am on Sunday.

Met Éireann say that southwest winds will reach mean speads of 50 to 65 km/h, with gusts of up to 100 km/h.

It will turn colder across the county tonight, with some showers falling as hail, sleet and snow on higher ground.

Drier conditions with clear skies will develop by tomorrow morning (Saturday) with a slight risk of frost in sheltered areas and lowest temperatures of 0 to +2 degrees.

The day will start mainly dry with just a few isolated showers and sunny spells.

Cloud will push in from the Atlantic though, bringing outbreaks of rain and drizzle by the afternoon.
