A status yellow weather warning for heavy wind and rain in Galway is in effect this afternoon.

Met Eireann has issued a warning for all of Connacht and Munster today.

“From Sunday afternoon, a spell of heavy rain will move northwards along with strengthening southeasterly winds.”

“Disruption is expected including spot flooding,” Met Eireann has said.

The weather warning will be in place until 10pm on Sunday night.

Things won’t improve after that however, as another warning for strong wings and further heavy showers will come into effect.

This weather warning for Clare, Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo will be in place from 10pm Sunday until midday on Monday.

“Very windy on Sunday night and Monday morning with further heavy showers.”

“Southeasterly winds, veering southwesterly will reach mean speeds of 50 – 65km/h with gusts of 90 – 110km/h, higher near coasts and exposed areas.”
