There has been a further rise in the number of COVID patients in Galway’s hospitals in the latest HSE data, with University Hospital Galway now recording the second highest number of confirmed cases in the State.

There are now 46 confirmed cases in Galway’s public hospitals, with 37 of those receiving care at UHG. Only University Hospital Limerick has more COVID patients with 49.

Four of the patients diagnosed with the disease at UHG are in the intensive care unit, as of 8pm on Sunday evening.

There are nine confirmed cases at Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe, with two of those patients receiving treatment in the ICU.

Nationally, the number of cases hospitalised rose to 470 last night – up from 459 yesterday morning.
