There are no Intensive Care beds left open in Galway’s hospitals with 13 COVID-19 patients in the ICU here as of Thursday night.

The latest figures from the HSE show a 11 patients with COVID-19 in the ICU at UHG and two at Portiuncula Hospital.

There are a further two suspected cases awaiting tests results in Intensive Care at Portiuncula.

As of 8pm on Thursday there were a total of 141 confirmed cases in Galway hospitals, with 130 at UHG and 11 at Portiuncula.

Nationwide 1,785 people were being treated for COVID-19 in hospital as of yesterday evening, of whom 171 were in the ICU.

There were five deaths related to COVID-19 among Intensive Care patients reported in the 24 hours prior.

There were a further 217 new cases reported in Galway yesterday, out of 3,955 nationwide. While 28 deaths related to the disease were also notified.
