Galway Daily news Status Yellow Ice Weather Warning issued for tonight

Road users have been warned that temperatures will plummet to between -2 and -7 degrees tonight, leading to hazardous icy conditions on roads across the country.

Severe frost will set in quickly after it gets dark this afternoon, and Met Éireann has issued its sixth weather warning of 2021.

The status yellow warning will come into effect at 5pm this afternoon in the Republic and a Met Office warning in the North will be in place from 2pm.

It will be extremely frosty and icy on Saturday morning with some freezing fog in parts of the county.

Cloud will increase as the day goes on, with patchy rain and drizzle gradually moving in from the Atlantic.

Other areas could remain largely dry with some sunny spells though, in just light westerly breezes.

Temperatures are set to increase from Sunday, with wet and windy weather forecast for the early days of next week.
