The semi-finals of the 2018 Galway Daily Hurling All-Stars saw the 45 remaining nominees whittled down to 30 ahead of today’s (Wednesday) finals.

John Hanbury exited the competition so 13 Galway contenders qualified for the final – James Skehill, Daithi Burke, Aidan Harte, Adrian Tuohey, Padraic Mannion, Johnny Coen, Gearoid McInerney, David Burke, Joe Canning, Cathal Mannion, Jonathan Glynn, Joseph Cooney and Conor Whelan.

Limerick have 11 players left, Clare and Cork have two each, while Kilkenny and Westmeath stand in one remaining player.  Wexford saw their last nominee depart.

Those unlucky to be eliminated included Shane Dowling (Limerick), TJ Reid (Kilkenny), Shane O’Donnell (Clare) and Hanbury (Galway).

The finals will see eight groups.  The remaining two goalkeepers will battle head-to-head for one place.  And there will be seven groups containing four players each across the other three categories (three defenders, one midfielders, three forwards).

The top two from each of these groups will make the team along with the goalkeeper and the players were seeded based on the semi-final results.

So, join us in deciding our team of the year.  All ties will be decided by our adjudication committee and we look forward to seeing what 15 players make the final cut on Thursday (13th September).
