Snow and ice weather warning issued for Galway

A status yellow weather warning for snow and ice has been issued for Galway and the North-west of Ireland.

Met Eireann has issued a weather warning for falls of hail and sleet, with snow accumulations on higher ground.

Snow may also gather in some places below 250m according to Met Eireann, while also warning of icy patches.

The weather warning will be in effect all through Tuesday until midday on Wednesday in Galway, Sligo, Mayo, Roscommon, Leitrim, Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Longford and Louth.

Weather conditions are expected to deteriorate tonight after a run of sunny day, with heavy showers and hail forecast with the possibility of thunder.

Showers of snow and sleet will occur, particularly on the high ground, with temperatures reaching lows of 0-3°c.
