The AA is urging people in East Galway to take care on the roads with much of the county experiencing poor driving conditions.
There is flooding on the M6 between J13 Athlone West and J14 Ballinasloe East, especially on the westbound carriageway.
An Orange Warning is currently in place for Connacht, as well as a status Yellow warning for rain.
Frequent thunderstorms are expected leading to heavy rain and possible spot flooding.
The warnings is valid until 11pm tonight (Friday).
