Galway Daily news Over 80 employers coming to GMIT careers fair next week

More than 80 employers and organisation, including multinational giants, will be showcasing opportunities for graduates at GMIT’s Careers Fair next week.

The Careers Fair is a chance for final year students and graduates, and other members of the public, to look at emerging trends in the jobs market.

They can speak to representatives of new and existing companies about what skills they’re looking for in graduates.

Many of the companies attending will be looking to hire skilled candidates on the day, so dress sharp and keep a good CV on hand.

This year’s fair has attracted a slew of new companies like Amazon, Aerogen, Agritech, Biomedical Research, ESB, Regeneron, Ryanair, and Sidero.

Bridie Killoran, Head of the Careers Service at GMIT said, “It is so rewarding to talk to final year students about all the exciting opportunities that are available to them now compared to five years ago.”

“Employers seek GMIT graduates because they believe they have the necessary skills, adaptability and knowledge to take their place within their organisations.”

Bridie said most of the students coming out of GMIT land on their feet, “In 2017, 92% of our graduates were either in employment or further study six months after graduating.”

As well as meeting with exhibitors the day will involve CV Clinics, guidance on emerging job markets, and information on postgraduate studies or volunteering opportunities.

The full list of exhibitors who’ll be attending next Monday can be found here.

“It is also great to see many of the same companies return each year including the ABP Food Group, Aldi, Cisco, Ericsson, Fidelity Investments, Kepak, Lidl, Linesight, Siteminder, and many more,” Bridie added.

The GMIT Careers Fair willtake place next Monday, October 1 from 12pm to 3pm.
