Man arrested in connection with woman’s death on Portumna farm

A man has been arrested in connection with the death of a woman on a farm near Portumna earlier this year.

Chrissie Treacy (75) was killed when she was struck by an agricultural vehicle on the farm near Boula, Portumna on April 27.

The 75 year old lived alone and had given up running the day to day affairs of the farm in recent years.

Emergency services were attended the scene, but Ms Treacy was pronounced dead not long after.

The State Pathologist and Garda Technical Bureau examined the scene at that time.

Today, Gardaí investing the incident have arrested a man in his fifties in connection with the death.

He is being detained at Loughrea Garda station.
