GRETB hiring 26 new teachers in Galway for the upcoming year

The Galway-Roscommon Education and Training Board is advertising positions for 26 new teachers at nine schools in Galway.

Teachers are needed across a wide range of subjects, with a mixture of Full-time, Pro-Rata & Part-time contracts available.

Five of the schools are looking for teachers who can teach their subjects through Irish; three on the Aran Islands, Coláiste na Coiribe in Knocknacarra, and Coláiste an bPiarsach in Rosmuc.

Anyone who wishes to submit their application for one of the advertised teaching positions must do before 12pm on Wednesday, July 25.

The full list of positions advertised by the GRETB today is as follows.

Coláiste Naomh Eoin, Inis Meáin:

  • French (14hrs – PRPT, August 27 2018)
  • Home Economics and Irish (18hrs – Maternity Leave – Commencing 27 August 2018)

Coláiste Ghobnait, Inis Oírr:

  • Maths (16.40hrs – PRPT 25 August 2018)
  • Home Economics and Irish(22 hrs – Commencing 25 August 2018)
  • Art (6hrs – PRPT – Commencing 25 August 2018)

Colaiste Naomh Éinne, Cill Rónáin, Inis Mór:

  • Metalwork (15hrs – PRPT- Commencing 27 August 2018)
  • Home Economics (8 hrs – Commencing 27 August 2018)

Coláiste na Coiribe, Ballymoneen rd, Knocknacarra:

  • Business, Enterprise, Maths (21.3 hrs -Maternity Leave- Commencing tbc)
  • English & French (11hrs- Learning support – Commencing 1st September 2018)
  • Economics & Business (11hrs – Commencing 1 September 2018)

Coláiste an bPiarsach, Rosmuc:

  • Home Economics (Science an Advantage) (22 hrs – Full time – Commencing tbc)

Those five schools are looking for applicants to teach through Irish. Anyone who wishes to apply must have the Irish requirement as per Circular Letter 21/00 issued by the Department of Education.

Claregalway College, Clargalway:

  • Agricultural Science (18hrs – Maternity Leave – Commencing 24 September 2018)
  • Physical Education & Science (22hrs – 1 year Secondment – Commencing 27 August 2018)
  • English (22hrs – PRPT Career Break – Commencing 27 August 2018)

Merlin College, Doughiska rd:

  • Science with Resource (Physics an Advantage) (16-22 hrs – PRPT – Commencing 27 August, 2018)
  • Irish & History (22 hrs, Maternity leave – Commencing 27 August 2018)
  • Art (6-8 weeks, Commencing 3 September 2018)

St. Brigid’s, Loughrea:

  • English with Resource (TEFL) (12-18hrs – RPT – Commencing 24 August 2018)

Galway Technical Institute, Fr. Griffin Road:

  • Career Guidance (16-22hrs- PRPT- Commencing tbc)
  • Programming & Software Development (up to 11hrs – PRPT- Commencing tbc)
  • Business & Marketing (up to 11hrs- PRPT- Career Break- Commencing tbc)
  • Fashion Design – Garment Construction & Pattern Drafting (up to 11hrs – PRPT – Career Break – Commencing tbc)
  • Fashion Design – Garment Construction & Pattern Drafting (up to 11hrs – PRPT – Career Break – Commencing tbc)
  • Social Studies (up to 11 hrs – PRPT- Commencing tbc)
  • Nursing Studies(11 hrs – Maternity Leave – Commencing tbc)
  • Science & Nutrition(11 hrs – Maternity Leave – Commencing tbc)

In addition to the Galway schools, the GRETB is also advertising two positions at Abbey Community College in Boyle, Co. Roscommon for Agrcultural Science, Biology, and Maths & Chemistry, Biology, and Maths.

Finally an art teacher is required for the Education Centre for Castlerea prison is also open.

Applications can be submitted through the GRETB website. Candidates will be chosen on the basis of an interview process.

Teachers with the GRETB applicants must be registered with the Teaching Council of Ireland and have completed Garda vetting.

Late applications will not be accepted, nor will forms that are faxed or emailed in.
