Gardai investigating three refugee men hidden in lorry

A Garda investigation is ongoing following the discovery of three men hidden in a lorry yesterday in the city.

Gardaí at Mill Street in Galway attended Fisheries Field in Galway after reports that a number of men were concealed in the body of an articulated lorry.

A search was conducted and three men, believed to be from Sudan, were discovered in the body of a truck.

The three men were detained under the Section 13 Immigration Act and taken to Galway Garda Station.

The Garda National Immigration Bureau have been notified and the individuals are being processed.

Gardaí have said that the three men have been medically assessed and are in good health.

This year, the people of Sudan have been subject to barbaric attacks by the RSF (Rapid Support Forces/Janjaweed).
