Gardaí appeal for witnesses following Oranmore house fire

Gardaí in Oranmore are appealing for witnesses and information concerning a house fire which occurred in the Tawin/Maree area last week.

The fire occurred at a house in Tawin island, Oranmore, which was unoccupied at the time, between 1am and 5am on Thursday, September 17.

Significant damage was caused to this house in the fire a Garda spokesperson said.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have been in the area during that period and who may have information to contact them.

In particular they are interested in speaking with anyone who may have observed a vehicle in the area, or anyone with video footage.

Inspector Brendan Carroll of Galway Garda Station said, “We are also appealing to taxi drivers who may have been working in the area at the time, who may have dash-cam footage, and to anyone else who was in the area and may have dash cam or video footage, to please make contact with us”.

Anyone with information that can assist Gardaí in their enquiries can contact Oranmore Garda Station on 091-388030, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
