A bulky goods waste collection will run for two weeks this month starting from tomorrow.

The County Council and Barna Waste are holding a collection for bulky household furniture waste from August 2 – 14.

Goods can be dropped off at the Tuam, Ballinasloe, and Clifden Civic Amenity sites, as well as the Barna Waste recycling facility on the Headford Road.

The collection is for households only, and costs €5 per car/van and trailer.

Goods that will be accepted include sofas, three-piece suites, wardrobes, bedside lockers, mattresses, bed frames, dining tables and chairs.

Waste such as bags of household waste, construction or hazardous waste, toys, ceramic items, and textiles will not be accepted.

The councils advised the public that this service must be booked online via the Barna Recycling website before arriving at any  of the above sites by using the following address barnarecycling.com/booking.

Pre-booking is essential to avail of the €5 gate fee. Regular gate and weighbridge fees will be incurred in the event that you arrive at either site without prior online booking of the service.

This service is for householders only, commercial operators will be turned away.
