Almost €200,000 in COVID Stability funding has been announced for 12 community and voluntary groups in Galway.

The funding for groups in Galway includes €80,000 for Croí Heart and Stroke charity, €12,000 for Forbairt Maigh Cuilinn, €8,000 for Bád Tarrthála Charna & na nOileán and €2,000 for Clifden Area Renewal Company.

Welcoming the funding announcement by Minister Heather Humphreys, Galway Senator Seán Kyne said that community and voluntary groups have found it difficult to maintain services to their communities since the start of the pandemic.

He said that this funding will go some way to filling the gap left by the difficulty in fundraising for these groups.

“Groups within the Community and Voluntary sector do incredible work in their local areas across the county and we must ensure that they are in a position to continue their efforts through the Covid pandemic and beyond,” said Senator Kyne.
