Small drop in COVID patients in Galway

The number of people hospitalised with COVID-19 in Galway has declined slightly, while ICU admissions for the disease remain the same.

There are 27 confirmed cases at UHG in the latest figures, one fewer than the day before but roughly in line with where case numbers have been at in the past week.

The number of COVID patients in the ICU at University Hospital Galway remains unchanged at four.

There are two confirmed cases at Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe, unchanged from the previous day.

Neither of the patients at Portiuncula Hospital is in the intensive care unit.

Nationwide there were 311 people hospitalised with COVID-19 as of Sunday night, of whom 59 are in the ICU.

A further 1,346 confirmed cases in the state were reported by the Department of Health yesterday.
