Number of COVID patients in Galway remains steady

The number of people diagnosed with COVID-19 at Galway’s public hospitals has remained steady this week after falling significantly since last Thursday.

There are 15 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment in Galway’s hospitals as of 8pm on Wednesday evening.

Fourteen of the patients are at University Hospital Galway and of those, five are in the intensive care unit.

The number of people with COVID in Galway’s hospitals fell dramatically at the weekend, from 26 last Thursday to 16 on Saturday.

Nationally, there were 263 coronavirus patients in hospitals at 8pm yesterday evening. Sixty-four of the 290 patients in ICUs across Ireland have COVID-19.
