Hospitals update: No increase in Covid cases at UHG or Portiuncula

There has been no increase in the overall number of confirmed Covid-19 cases at University Hospital Galway or Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe.

At UHG, there are ten people who have tested positive for Covid, while at Portiuncula there are two confirmed cases.

The number of Covid cases in hospital in Galway is the same as it was last Thursday despite the national figure rising every day.

None of the twelve confirmed cases in Galway’s two hospitals are in ICU, and there are no suspected cases in ICU.

The latest update from the Department of Health shows there are now 260 people in hospital with Covid-19, with 30 of these cases in ICU. Twenty are on ventilators.

At Galway University Hospitals, there are 29 general beds available and two ICU beds.
