Galway hospitals arranging for pregnant women to receive COVID vaccine

Arrangements are being made for pregnant women in Galway to get their COVID-19 vaccine in the Ballybrit vaccination centre.

The Maternity Units at UHG, Portiuncula Hospital, and other Saolta hospitals, are arranging for women between 14 and 36 weeks gestation to get a vaccine at the centre closest to their maternity unit.

The hospitals have set up phone numbers for pregnant women to contact them about this.

Patients can contact UHG at 086 791 3854 from 9am to 2pm, Monday to Friday, and Portiuncula Hospital at 090 964 8372 from 9am to 2pm, Monday to Friday.

Women who have antenatal appointments will have an opportunity to discuss the COVID-19 vaccine with their midwife or doctor

Pregnant women are being offered an mRNA COVID-19 vaccination.

All antenatal outpatient appointments are going ahead.
