Following the success of the walk-in vaccination clinics in Galway and across the country last weekend, more of the same will take place this week.

Around 850 people received their first dose of the Pfizer vaccine in Galway last Saturday and Monday

Two clinics will run again in Galway and Clifden vaccination centres this Saturday, August 7 for people ages 16 years and over.

The clinics, at Clifden Community School and Ballybrit Racecourse, will be administering vaccines without an appointment from 10am on Saturday.

The Galway City clinic will be open until 2pm in the afternoon, and the Clifden clinic will run later, until 4pm.

These walk-in clinics are again only for people to receive their first dose of vaccine. Those who get their jab will be contacted by text for a second dose appointment.

The reaction to last weekends clinics was extremely positive, with Frank Harburn, Saolta vaccination manager, saying that the level of attendance, particularly among young people “exceeded our expectations”.
