COVID patient numbers steady at UHG

The number of COVID-19 patients at University Hospital Galway has remained steady after declining from a high point over the weekend.

There were 26 confirmed cases at UHG as of Monday night, the same number as the day before but a significant decline from more than a week where there were over 30 cases at the hospital on any day.

Four of the patients at UHG are in the intensive care unit in serious condition, also unchanged from the day prior.

At Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe there are two confirmed cases, neither of which is in the ICU.

Nationwide there were 361 people in Ireland hospitalised with COVID-19 as of last night, of whom 59 are in the ICU.
