COVID-19: Hospital cases continue to fall in Galway

The number of people hospitalised with COVID-19 in Galway has continued to decline steadily, with just 14 patients in hospital as of yesterday.

The latest HSE figures show that there were 10 confirmed cases at UHG as of Tuesday evening, and another four at Portiuncula.

Those numbers are down from the 12 and six confirmed cases reported in the Galway City and Ballinasloe hospitals respectively the day before.

There is also just one suspected case at each of the two hospitals awaiting test results in the latest figures.

There remain five COVID-19 patients in the Intensive Care Unit at UHG, and one in the ICU at Portiuncula Hospital.

Nationwide there were 475 people hospitalised with COVID-19 in Ireland as of Tuesday night, of whom 112 were in the ICU.
