The Department of Health has reported 506 new cases of Covid-19 in the Republic of Ireland as well as one additional Covid related death.

Ninety-one of today’s cases are in Dublin, while 76 are in Cork, 53 in Donegal and 42 in Meath. The remaining 244 cases are located across 21 other counties.

The total number of cases in Galway, not including today’s figures, stands at 901 after 35 new cases were confirmed yesterday.

Sixty-four percent of the cases reported today are under 45 years of age, and 39% are confirmed to be associated with outbreaks or are close contacts. Fifty-nine cases have been identified as community transmission.

There has been a total of 1,817 COVID-19 related deaths in the State and 40,086 confirmed cases.

There are currently 159 people with Covid-19 in hospitals, and 25 in ICU.
