Booster vaccines will be available for everyone over the age of 16 from Sunday, An Taoiseach Micheál Martin has said.
People can book a vaccine centre appointment from tonight or contact their GP or pharmacist.
Martin said that boosters are our “best protection against Omicron” and pleaded with the public to get the booster when they can.
Walk-in vaccination clinics will continue uninterrupted in Galway through the New Year period.
The hours for walk-in vaccination clinics at Ballybrit Racecourse over New Year’s are:
Saturday 1 January, 9.30am to 7pm
Sunday 2 January, 8.30am to 7pm
Monday 3 January, 8.30am to 1.30pm
Tuesday 4 January, 1.30pm to 7pm
