To encourage the development of local arts, 16 artists in Galway have received bursaries totalling €309,855 from the Arts Council in the latest round of funding.
The Arts Council’s bursary awards, on behalf of the state, support individual artists with a grant of up to €20,000, which provides practitioners the time and resources necessary to think, research, reflect and engage with their arts practice.
The awards emphasise the value and benefit that an extended process of engagement can bring to an artist’s development.
The works and learnings developed through these awards benefit both the individual artist, audiences and the wider arts ecosystem in Ireland.
In total, the Arts Council has awarded 258 artists a collective €4.3 million through the latest round of the bursary award scheme.
