10 COVID patients in Galway in the ICU

There are 18 confirmed cases of COVID-19 hospitalised in Galway according to the latest figures from the HSE.

As of Thursday evening there were 15 confirmed cases at University Hospital Galway, with a further three cases at Portiuncula Hospital.

Seven of the patients at University Hospital Galway are in the ICU, the joint highest number in the country along with St. James’ Hospital.

At Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe, all three of their confirmed cases are in the intensive care unit.

There are a further four suspected cases of COVID-19 at UHG for which test results are awaited.

Nationwide, 237 COVID patients were hospitalised as of Thursday evening. Of those, 52 are in serious condition in the ICU.
