Burst main causes water outages in multiple villages

A burst water main in causing water outages to multiple villages served by the Mid Galway Regional Water Supply Scheme today.

Irish Water and Galway County Council have said that due to a broken mains homes and businesses in Abbeyknockmoy, Monivea, and Kiltullagh may experience water outages today.

The burst mains near Farmhill Reservoir in Abbeyknockmoy were first reported just after 12:30pm today.

Repair work is ongoing, Irish Water has said, but no estimated time of completion has yet been given.

In the meantime the county council is urging people who live in the affected areas to conserve the water in their tanks.

A traffic management plan is in place in Abbeyknockmoy while repairs are underway.

Residents in the area are advised that it may take 2-3 hours after work has been completed for full water supply to be restored.

Anyone affected by these works can find updates through Irish Water’s Supply and Service page or by contacting the Twitter account @IWCare.
