Strong winds are forecast for Galway once again tonight after decent spells of sunshine and dry weather this afternoon across many parts of the county.

Met Éireann issued yet another weather warning for Galway, Mayo and Donegal which will come into effect at midnight tonight.

The weather chiefs say southwesterly winds tonight will reach mean speeds of 50 to 65km/h and gusts of 80 to 100km/h.

The winds will be strongest in coastal areas and there is a risk of coastal flooding around high tide.

The latest status yellow weather warning will be lifted tomorrow morning (Wednesday) at 8am.

This afternoon will be mainly dry as showers mostly die out and winds ease. Highest temperatures will be around 9 or 10 degrees.

Rain will then move in from the west early tonight as winds pick up.

The rain will be heavy at times but will clear overnight with occasional showers forecast.
