Met Éireann says that driving conditions may be dangerous in Galway this morning due to heavy downpours.

A 24-hour status yellow warning for rain is set to expire today at midday in Galway, Clare and Kerry, with the forecasters also warning of potential localised flooding.

But the heavy downpours will fade away by this afternoon, leaving more sunny spells with just some scattered lighter showers.

Highest temperatures will be 17 to 21 degrees in fresh, occasionally strong, southwest winds.

Wednesday will see more cloud with some showers and a chance of a few heavy bursts but there will also be some bright or sunny intervals.

It will be slightly cooler, with high temperatures reaching 15 to 18 degrees with moderate southwest winds veering west to northwesterly and easing later.
