Galway Daily weather Wet start to the New Year but brighter colder weather coming our way

Met Éireann has forecast a wet and mostly cloudy week for the West, but early indications show that it will turn milder towards the end of the week.

Monday will be a mostly cloudy and wet day with outbreaks of rain – possibly heavy at times.

Highest temperatures of 9 to 13 degrees are forecast on Monday, and moderate to fresh southeast winds will ease later in the day.

Tuesday will be mostly cloudy again, with light rain and outbreaks of showers. Afternoon temperatures of around 14 or 15 degrees are forecast in the West.

Wednesday will be a drier day, and some brighter spells are possible after showers ease by the afternoon. High temperatures will remain around 14 degrees.

Met Éireann say that there is some uncertainty about Thursday, but that it looks like it will be quite cloudy again with some showers, but with the chance of a more widespread spell of rain moving in from the west.

Friday and Saturday look set to be dry, with high temperatures rising to 17 degrees in Connacht.
