Galway Daily news Met Eireann issues Fog warning as motorists advised to exercise caution

Connacht is not included in a status yellow weather warning for fog and freezing fog tonight, Wednesday, but it will be close to freezing across most of Galway overnight with widespread frost forming as well as dense fog in places.

Light breezes will lead to fog across much of the West tonight, becoming thick in the south and east of the province.

Lowest temperatures will be between -1 and +3 degrees tonight, but it will stay slightly milder in western parts of the province.

Fog will be slow to clear on Thursday morning, leaving a mainly dry day with a mix of cloud and sunny spells, and with a little patchy drizzle possible near the coasts.

Highest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees are forecast in light southerly or variable breezes.

Met Éireann says that it will continue settled and largely dry through the rest of the week, as high pressure dominates.

Frost and fog is expected to form by night, with fog persistent in places during the day.
