Temperatures in Galway will drop below freezing overnight with frost and fog forecast across the county.

AA Roadwatch is urging people to slow down and use fog lights where necessary as fog is affecting visibility on many roads across the county this evening.

Met Éireann says that the fog will lift to some degree later on tonight as a northwest breeze freshens.

Clear spells are forecast overnight, with a few showers moving in over the early hours of the morning, which will see lows of -2 to 0 degrees causing frost and icy patches.

There will be some bright spells and passing showers tomorrow (Tuesday) morning and during the afternoon – but it will become mainly dry later in the day with sunny spells.

It will remain cold though, with moderate to fresh northwest winds. Top temperatures of 6 to 8 degrees are expected in the afternoon.
