Galway Daily news Planning application made for 345 apartments in Crown Square project

A planning application has been made to An Bord Pleanála for the construction of 345 apartments at the Crown Square development in Mervue.

Crown Square Developments Ltd are seeking planning permission to build three blocks of apartments, two of which would be nine storeys tall, and one of which would be five storeys.

This is the residential element of the larger Crown Square development at the junction of Monivea Road and Joyces Road in Mervue.

The three proposed apartment buildings would be Block G (117 no. units); Block H (180 no. units) and Block J (48 no. units) of the development.

The developer has specified that these apartments would be ‘build-to-let’ units meant for the rental market.

This application represents an increase of 57 units on plans that were previously approved by the higher planning authority for the site.

While it is mainly concerned with the housing element of Crown Square, this application also includes plans for a pharmacy and retail units, a creche, a fitness/leisure facility, and a primary care medical centre.

The developer has made a Strategic Housing Development application directly to An Bord Pleanála after being given the go ahead to do so last month.
