101 Galway sports clubs receive over €125k in grants

More than 100 sports clubs around Galway City and County have been awarded over €125,000 in funding through the Local Sports Partnership Small Grant Scheme.

The COVID-19 Small Grant Scheme operated by Galway Sports Partnership offered grants of up to €1,500 for clubs to support them in implementing COVID-19 safety and hygiene protocols.

This grant can cover costs associated with the reopening of clubs & physical activity, for expenses dating from May onwards.

GSP announced that 101 sports clubs in Galway have been allocated €126,036.73 under the scheme.

The LSP Small Grant Scheme was one of the measures funded under €85 million for the Irish sports sector allocated by Sport Ireland in the past week.

Chairman of Sport Ireland, Kieran Mulvey said that it will help provide “much needed financial stability” for the sector, and help keep organisations operational through the crisis.
