Woman (50s) seriously injured after Oughterard traffic collision

A female pedestrian sustained serious injuries in a road traffic collision which took place near Oughterard yesterday evening.

A woman in her 50s was taken to University Hospital Galway with serious injuries after a collision involving a truck.

The incident took place at 6:20pm on the N59 at Gortrevagh, Oughterard on Monday, February 3.

Gardaí say that no further injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

The road was closed for a period to allow a forensic examination to take place but has since reopened.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information, in particular anyone who may have camera footage who were in the area at the time, to get in touch.
