Weather warning issued for Galway ahead of heavy rainfall

Galway Daily weather Weather warning for heavy rain and possible flooding now in effect

A status yellow weather warning has been issued by Met Éireann ahead of heavy rain today and tonight.

Rainfall up to 40mm is expected and there is a risk of local flooding.

The weather warning comes into force today at 1.00pm and is valid until tomorrow morning (Tuesday) at 5.00am.

Met Éireann say that the rain will become more persistent and heavy in the afternoon and then ease for a time during the evening, before becoming heavy and persistent again overnight.

It is warm and humid today with highest temperatures of 17 to 19 degrees.

The heavy rain will ease by tomorrow morning, with the cloud breaking.

Tomorrow will see a mix of dry weather and showery outbreaks of rain. It will be windy again, with temperatures reaching 19 degrees.

Mayo, Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal are also included in the weather warning issued this morning.
