Gardaí in Galway are appealing for witnesses following a serious hit and run incident on the R336 Road between Furbo and Spiddal on Sunday 24 October.

The collision occurred at around 8.30pm when a car collided with a male pedestrian near the Furbo Church.

The pedestrian, a man aged in his 40s, was taken to University Hospital Galway to be treated for serious injuries. The driver of the car failed to remain at the scene.

The road is currently closed with diversions in place while Forensic Collision Investigators conduct an examination of the scene.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward. Gardaí are also appealing to any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the R336 between Furbo and Spiddal Sunday night, between 8.00pm and 9.00pm, to make this footage available to Gardaí.
