Galway County Council is planning to carry out safety works on the Dublin Road at the junction with the Purcell Stockwell road.

East Galway TD Seán Canney said that the works will be carried out in the coming months.

He said that the plans are an effort to increase safety by provide footpaths and adjust railings in order to make the junction and general area safer for all.

“This junction can be very congested at school times and any improvements to the junction are to be welcomed,” said Deputy Canney.

“There are a number of national school’s access points at this location, and it is imperative that safety is a priority especially young children trying to access the schools.”
