Galway Daily news Swimming ban at Ballyloughane Beach due to E. Coli

Galway City Council has issued Prior Warning Notices for Ballyloughane and Grattan beaches for possible bacterial contamination.

The warning notices are being issued due to the rainfall forecasted for the coming days, and the possible use of the storm overflow.

The expected duration of the notices is from Friday to Monday, July 22 – 25.

During this time, people avoid splashing or swallowing water while at these beaches, avoid swimming if you have a wound, and to wash hands before handling food.

Further water sampling will be carried out, and an update is expected on July 27, upon the receipt of results.
