Plans have been submitted to the city council for a new commercial centre in Knocknacarra.
Planning permission is being sought by 1 Kingston Land Limited for the construction of a mixed used development on land on the south side of the Western Distributor Road at the Knocknacarra District Centre.
This application is Phase 1 of a planned two phase masterplan for the entire area.
The application before the city council is for the construction of a supermarket with underground car parking coming to 258 spaces.
The developer is also seeking approval for a retail warehouse with 137 accompanying surface car parking spaces, nine retail units, a café/restaurant, and two community/medical units.
Galway City Council is due to make a decision on this planning application by July 4.
