Sai Gujulla has taken up the role of President of NUI Galway Students’ Union – the representative group of over 19,000 students at the University.

The biomedical engineering student was elected by his peers earlier this year and has now taken over from Róisín Nic Lochlainn as president of the Students’ Union.

Last year he held the role of Convenor of the College of Science and Engineering with the SU.

Sai follows in the footsteps of President Michael D Higgins who was the NUI Galway Students’ Union President back in 1964.

He will be working closely with the other SU Officers including the Vice President/Welfare and Equality Officer Imogen O’Flaherty Falconer, the Vice President/Education Officer Joe Mee, and the Vice President for the Irish Language Barry Ó Siochrú.

“I am delighted to take up this prestigious role representing the students of NUI Galway,” said Sai Gujulla.

“It will be another challenging year as we are in the midst of a Cost of Living Crisis but myself and the other SU Officers will be working hard this year for our students.

“NUI Galway students will need extra support in these testing circumstances to ensure that they have the best possible student experience. We are here for our students and are ready to defend their rights.”
