A man in his 60s has lost his life after a road traffic accident near Williamstown on Monday evening.

Gardaí are appealing for for information about the single vehicle accident that took place on the Williamstown to Ballinlough road at around 8pm yesterday evening.

The driver of the vehicle, it’s sole occupant, was killed when his vehicle struck a pole.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. It’s understood that no-one else was injured in this incident.

The road at Croaghill was closed overnight while gardaí waited to carry out a technical examination of the scene, but has since re-opened to traffic.
