Gardaí in Sligo have confirmed this morning that a man who was attacked in broad daylight on Tuesday has died at Beaumont Hospital in Dublin.

Emergency Services attended the scene at Rockwood Parade, Sligo shortly after 6pm, and treated a man (late 30s) for a head injury.

He was taken to Sligo University Hospital before being transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin, where he has since died.

A postmortem will be carried out, and its results will direct the investigation going forward.

Gardaí are asking anyone in the vicinity on Tuesday evening from 5pm to 6.15pm, or who may have camera footage or dash cam footage from the location at the time, to make it available to them.
