One man was arrested and €26,000 worth of suspected cannabis plants seized by Gardaí in Athenry this week.

A house in Athenry was searched under warrant by the Galway Garda Drugs Unit at 8:30pm on Wednesday, where they found a quantity of cannabis plants.

The plants were at different stages of growth, and divided between two bedrooms which were acting as a grow house.

Fans and lamps which were part of the operation were also seized at the time.

One man in his 30s was arrested and questioned by Gardaí at the Regional Headquarters in Murrough, Galway City.

He was released without charge on Thursday, and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
