Man arrested in connection with €64,000 Galway drugs seizure

One man has been arrested in connection with the seizure of €64,000 worth of multiple drugs in Galway City yesterday evening.

While on patrol on the Renmore Road on Thursday evening, Gardaí stopped a male who was found to be in possession of a knife.

He was arrested and taken to a Garda station in the North Western Region.

As a result of enquiries by investigating Gardaí, a search was conducted at an address in Galway.

During the course of the search suspected cannabis, cocaine, ketamine, MDMA and ecstasy with an estimated value of €64,000 was seized.

Various drug paraphernalia was also seized by investigating Gardaí. The drugs are now subject to analysis by Forensic Science Ireland (FSI).

The arrested man (aged in his 20s) is currently detained under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996, at a Garda station in the North Western Region.
