Loughrea Supervalu plans to soak up the sun

Supervalu in Loughrea intends to take advantage of the good weather with plans to install rooftop solar panels.

Planning permission is being sought for 192.09kWp solar panels on the roof of Loughrea Shopping Centre to provide power for Supervalu.

The supermarket said that installation is for the purposes of “generating on-site green electricity to reduce the applicant’s energy consumption”.

UK based Kingspan Energy Limited have been consulted by Supervalu about installing the photovaltic solar panels.

Galway county council is due to make a decision on this next week by May 2.
