UHG has the highest number of patients on trolleys in Ireland

UHG is the most overcrowded hospital in Ireland today, with almost 60 patients on trolleys waiting for a bed.

There are 56 patients without a bed in the emergency department at UHG, and a further three in the wards.

At Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe there are seven patients on trolleys, four in the ED and three in the wards.

Figures from the INMO Trolley/Ward Watch show a total of 466 people admitted to Irish hospitals waiting for a bed today.

After UHG the worst affected hospitals are UH Limerick, with 47 people on trolleys, St Vincent’s with 43, and Sligo UH which has 42 people without beds.

UHG is also dealing with 50 COVID-19 patients as of Wednesday night, just one fewer than in Beaumont and twice as high as any other hospital.
