UHG has second most patients on trolleys today

Forty-nine people were on trolleys at University Hospital Galway earlier today waiting for a bed – the second highest in the country.

University Hospital Limerick remains the most overcrowded hospital in the State with 81 patients on trolleys.

Cork and Letterkenny University Hospitals both have 34 people waiting for a bed.

A total of 507 patients were on trolleys across the country when the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation data was taken earlier today.

Seventeen of those were at Portiuncula University Hospital in Ballinasloe.

The latest HSE data shows that 779 people who have tested positive for Covid are in hospitals nationally. Of those, 41 are at UHG and 12 are at Portiuncula Hospital.
